When you choose to get married in church you are also declaring your love and commitment to God and inviting Him to be part of your relationship. Including God in your marriage doesn't mean you will avoid all the usual ups and downs, but you will know you can look to God for help and guidance and you will also have the support of the Christian Church family.
In baptism, you as parents are: thanking God for his gift of life, making a decision to start your child on the journey of faith and asking for the Church's support. For your child, baptism marks the start of a journey of faith, which involves turning away from all that is evil, turning towards Christ and becoming a member of the local and worldwide Christian family.
